Call for Papers

The key theme of the Vietnam’s Business, Economics & Resources Conference (VBER2020) is “Emerging Economies in a New Decade: Challenges vs. Opportunities”. The key objective of our VBER2020 is to bring together academics, practitioners and policymakers to discuss ongoing research on a wide range of theoretical and empirical issues related to business, economics and resources in the emerging markets. Papers from PhD scholars and masters students are particularly welcome.

Potential topics may include the following areas: (i) Business including Finance, Accounting, Management, Banking, Marketing, Auditing; (ii) Economics including Public Economics, International & Regional Economics, Environmental Economics and others; and (iii) Resources including Natural Resources and Human Resources including Energy and Agriculture.

Keynote Speakers

The VBER2020 warmly welcomes Professor Jacqueline Birt from the University of Western Australia, Australia. Previously she was employed at the UQ Business School, Monash Business School, the ANU and the University of Melbourne.  She is a Professor of Accounting and also the Head of Department – Accounting and Finance for the UWA Business School. Jac is a member of several external boards including AFAANZ, the IAESB Consultative Advisory Group and BEWA (Business Educators Western Australia). She is a Deputy Editor at the Accounting & Finance Journal and an Associate Editor at the Accounting Research Journal. Jac’s research is predominantly in international accounting and accounting education.

The VBER2020 also invites Professor Marc Paolella from University of Zurich, Switzerland to deliver a keynote speech. Marc Paolella is a member of several editorial boards of statistics and econometrics journals, and the Editor-in-Chief of a relatively new journal called Econometrics. His research interests include classic and modern statistical inference, time-series analysis, and financial risk prediction.  He focuses on development of large-scale modeling and prediction of financial asset returns, advanced portfolio optimization methodologies, and algorithmic trading strategies. He has published about 50 academic papers, and single-authored four graduate level books on probability theory, statistical inference, linear models, time series analysis, and financial econometrics.

Furthermore, Professor Wing-Keung Wong, Chair Professor at the Department of Finance, Asia University, will join VBER2020 as a keynote speaker. He obtained his PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA with major in Business Statistics (Statistics and Finance). He has been serving international academies, Government, society and universities, providing consultancy to several Government departments and corporations, and giving lectures and seminars to several universities. Professor Wing-Keung Wong has published more than two hundred papers including papers published in Contemporary Accounting Research, Annals of Applied Probability, Scientific Report, Mathematical Finance, European Journal of Operational Research, Economic Theory, Journal of Empirical Finance, Journal of Financial Markets, and many others.

“Sharing is Caring” Session – Preparing Future Generations of Vietnam’s World Class Researchers and Practitioners

This session is unique and it is generally considered as a flagship session to VBER Conference series. Led by world class professors, the keynote speakers of VBER2020 Conference, young and talented local Vietnamese researchers share their own experience to complete their PhD studies overseas and to conduct independent researches to get them published in highly regarded international journals.

Ph.D scholars/ Master students Forum

The Vietnam’s Business, Economics & Resources Conference (VBER2020) will include a PhD & Masters Forum for Business (Finance, Accounting, Management, Banking, Marketing, Auditing) and Economics Students who are currently working on their dissertation/papers. The one-day forum will offer accepted students the unique opportunity to present their research and have their work discussed by distinguished academics. Throughout the seminar, selected research techniques on conducting a comprehensive literature review and evaluating relevant econometric techniques will be presented. Attendees will be provided with hands-on experience on the topic(s)/research they are currently working on with experienced researchers and they will receive valuable advice.
